Although it could have been a simple mid-life facelift, the update of the third-generation Cayman presented today is without doubt the biggest change the model has undergone since its launch in 2006. First of all, the name changes, as the Boxster and the Cayman are now considered the convertible and coupé variants of a single model, which is named 718 in reference to the 718 RSK Spyder racing car of the 1950s. This name should therefore logically be retained in future evolutions of the model. Although it is not necessarily obvious at first glance, the new Cayman has been completely redesigned and many details are different. The most striking are the front and rear bumpers; above all, the headlights have become narrower and darker. Although the silhouette broadly retains the same harmony, the Cayman loses a little character, something due above all to the front end, which looks blander. The revolution of the new model takes place, however, under the rear bonnet. In place of the previous 2.7- and 3.4-litre 6-cylinder flat engines, 2.0- and 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbos are now used. For purists this is a double shock, since on the one hand two cylinders are lost and on the other turbocharging is introduced, as happened recently with the king, the 911.

* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
