In January 2019, Porsche unveiled the GT4 Clubsport, heralding the return of the flat-six ... although only for strictly track-only use. In June 2019, enthusiasts could at last rejoice at the launch of two road-legal versions powered by a naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine: the 718 Cayman GT4 and the 718 Spyder. Both models benefit from a completely new engine. It is a 4.0 block with 420 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Despite a few differences (larger displacement, naturally aspirated engine), it is derived from the 3.0 Turbo of the 911 (Type 992). It is a high-revving engine with an ignition cut-off at 8,000 rpm. Besides power, Porsche also wanted to convey a feeling through the engine. The sound of the naturally aspirated engine has been crafted with particular care. Developing the exhaust was a real puzzle, as it had to house the DPF and be integrated into the rear of the diffuser while at the same time flattering the driver’s ear. As for the transmission, a six-speed manual gearbox has been preferred. However, the manufacturer does not rule out also offering the PDK in the future.

* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
