In 1947 the first Porsche was designed, and the first running prototype was completed in July 1947. The dream came true on 8 June 1948 with official type approval. Ferry Porsche had set out to build a small sports car with a favourable power-to-weight ratio at an affordable price. This very first Porsche had a slightly modified VW four-cylinder flat engine, mounted in a mid-rear position, as well as an all-aluminium body on a tubular frame.

* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
