This car was born from the wish of the chairman of the board of management of Porsche AG, Wendelin Wiedeking, to broaden Porsche’s customer base. When production of the Porsche 928 and 968 ended in 1995, Porsche was only selling the 911 (Type 993), which was the most elitist model in terms of selling price. This situation continued until 1997, when the Boxster left the factories. The name is a fusion of the words “Boxer”, the type of flat engine, and “Roadster”. It was presented to the public in 1996 in the form of a concept car. The aim was to offer a sporty convertible that would allow more customers to enter the world of Porsche.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
