Porsche shows us once again that the brand remains capable of presenting exceptional models. For the 60th anniversary of the 911, we were expecting a year full of surprises and novelties. So many of us believed in it that we have been heard. Since last year, following the presentation of the 992 Sport Classic, the 992 GT3 RS and the 992 Dakar, Porsche is starting up the pleasure machine again with this new 911 (992) ST. The latter is a tribute to the 911 ST of the 1970s.
Remember that, in 1969, Porsche was developing a 911 capable of competing in races all over the world: rally events, the Targa Florio, the French GT Championship, the 1000 km of the Nürburgring. It sports wider wings to house wider wheels on the basis of a 911 T body. The T bodies were chosen because they were lighter and received additional lightening (the roof and the rear seat pressing were made of thinner sheet steel than standard). The interior, stripped of all artifice, had small bucket seats and a rev counter graduated up to 10,000 rpm. The cars were assembled from 911 T bodies, but with 911 S engine bases. The experience gained during the 911 R programme benefited the 911 ST. It led to considerable weight savings and every last superfluous gram was eliminated: no more tin in the joints of the body panels, aluminium doors, glass-fibre bonnets and bumpers and thinner glass windscreens.
You will find more information about the 911 ST (videos, etc.) on the official website, clicking here .
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
