A Porsche 4-cylinder is planned, and what is more a genuine Porsche 4-cylinder, that is, a horizontally opposed cylinder block. The next Boxster and the next Cayman will be the first. The Macan, which has just been discreetly bought, has nothing to do with this promising engine, because in all likelihood it is the classic VW 2.0 Turbo, already used in the Golf GTI. Whereas the Macan produces up to 230 hp, here it is 252 hp, to preserve exclusivity, and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. With this, the Macan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 229 km/h, while the 340 hp Macan S, the entry-level petrol model, needs only 5.4 seconds and reaches 254 km/h. This Macan, which sits below the Macan Turbo and the Macan S, can be recognised by its twin exhaust tips, which replace the quad ones of the other models. It is surprising that Porsche chose China as the market for the launch of this engine, since that is where manufacturers’ efforts are concentrated in the premium segment.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
