At the beginning of 2012 the new Boxster appeared, the third generation of the name! At first glance, the new Boxster doesn’t have much new to offer. Its lines have become more modern: a more prominent front bumper, redesigned headlights, lower sides and a revised rear end. But the styling remains firmly in the purest tradition of the brand. Even so, the Boxster Type 981 (its codename) is newer than it looks. The thing is that the changes can’t be seen. The light-alloy bodywork, for example, has been completely redesigned and the chassis has been revised throughout. This has made the Boxster lose weight: almost 30 kg in the base version, which weighs in at 1,310 kg on the scales. The engineers did not stop there. They lengthened the wheelbase, widened the front and rear track and developed a new electromechanical power steering. All these innovations were intended to improve the Boxster’s handling and driving precision.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
