In 1962, the Porsche 356 celebrates its great comeback. To make up for the age of its arteries, the 356, which is nearing its final stage of development, treats itself to one last course of vitamins. At the Frankfurt IAA in 1961, the Carrera 2 was presented with a new 2-litre four-cylinder engine producing 130 hp. The Carrera 2 is less sporting than the first Carrera and now offers a very acceptable level of ride comfort and flexibility. The 4-speed gearbox has been re-spaced accordingly and the Carrera 2 now reaches the symbolic 200 km/h mark. Another important novelty is that the car receives disc brakes as in competition, which was about time... Outside the catalogue, the Carrera 2 can also be ordered in a lighter GT version, intended for competition: today’s RS version!
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
