In 1991, the entire 944 range was replaced by the 968. It would be the third and last act in the story of the “small front-engined four-cylinder Porsche”, which had begun almost 20 years earlier with the 924. Technically, the 968 is based on a 944 platform, whose bodywork continues to be stamped at Karmann. Although it received a number of adaptations, the 968 is comparable to a 944 S2 with new styling. To better integrate this genuine false novelty into the current range, Porsche skilfully blends old and new, although the whole clearly retains the identity of the 944. It was given round headlights and a new bumper similar to those of the 928, mirrors and Cup wheels as on the 911 Type 964, new rear lights and a more discreet spoiler.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
