In March 1977, the Porsche 928 made its grand debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It was presented then as the GT that was meant to gradually eclipse the 911. The outcome of this unequal fraternal struggle is well known today... Everything about it is astonishing, starting with its flying-saucer appearance, its 4.5-litre V8 engine and its performance. Undoubtedly, even then it was considered fit to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini. The cabin is innovative, starting with the instrument cluster, which is firmly attached to the steering column and adjustable. Thus, it is finally possible to lower the steering wheel without the speedometer needle being hidden by the wheel rim. The velvet interior upholstery with a chessboard pattern fits in well with Porsche’s 1977 colour palette, and the wheels dare to go for the telephone-dial style. Already in the first tests, the press was so enthusiastic that the Porsche 928 was voted Car of the Year 1978 the following year.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
