In the late 1950s, Ferry Porsche approached his friend Carlo Abarth and asked him to develop a lightweight car based on the already powerful Porsche 356 Carrera GT 1600. Zagato was asked to design the body, but in the end the design of this very special 356 was entrusted to Franco Scaglione, who no longer worked for Bertone. The aluminium parts were entrusted to Motto, who got rid of his partners after only three 356 “GTL” bodies. L for “light”, because the Porsche Abarth weighs 50 kg less than the 356 on which it is based and has a decisive performance advantage, also based on very carefully worked aerodynamics.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
