Despite its great sporting potential and its harmonious lines, the 550 1500 RS Spyder was not an immediate great success. Even so, it was Porsche’s most powerful competition car. It will, however, go down in history, since on 30 September 1955 the famous James Dean was at the wheel and lost his life in it. In 1953 two coupés were produced, but, owing to the great demand overseas, the roadster was chosen.
* The weight is the maximum measured weight (EC standard).
** The power figures refer to vehicles with a manual gearbox (except Cayenne and Panamera).
*** The value is the one published by Flat6 Magazine or LVA (average of good and very good), which in our opinion is the closest to the market price, with a slight tendency to overvalue older models. For this purpose, the vehicle is assumed to have covered an average of 10,000 km per year. We do not give any value for current models.
